Would you like to be an Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Certified Trainer ?

Training Description

Clemson University's Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Directors will be conducting a Training of Trainers (TOT) at Gallaudet University from July 8-10, 2009 and again in the spring of 2010. The training is for highly qualified professionals who would like to become a certified Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) trainer. The OBPP is a multilevel, multi-component school based program designed to prevent or reduce bullying in elementary, middle, and junior high schools. In order to be certified, participants must provide training and consultation to assist at least two schools with implementation of the OBPP. However participants can be a non-certified trainer if they prefer to implement the program at one school.

Training Expectations

• Participation in the initial 3-day TOT (TOT Part 1)
• Participation in a 2-day follow up training (TOT Part II) approximately 9-12 months later
• Participation in regular phone consultation with an OBPP Technical Assistance Consultant (approximately 1 hour per for first 12 months, 30 minutes per month for next 6 months)

Training Outcomes

• Preparation for certification in OBPP Training
• Knowledge and skills in implementing the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program: a Model Blueprints for Violence Prevention Program
• Knowledge about bullying in American Schools and Deaf Education
• A complete set of training materials
• Access to the trainer-only section of the OBPP website

Tuition: $4,100 (The price does not include travel, lodging or meals associated with TOT I and II). Gallaudet University is willing to waive tuition for four Gallaudet employees who are interested in becoming a certified OBPP trainer and will train at least three schools serving deaf and hard of hearing students. Be sure to review the requirements for certification and complete the application packet (signed requirements for certification form, completed application form, and a short resume). Please make two copies of the entire application and send it to Lydia Arneson whose address is on the application form. Application Deadline: May 22, 2009
